Large Animal Services
CATTLE
Our cattle services to help you improve your herd health and your bottom line.
General (ambulatory) services include:
· Examination of the sick or injured animal
· Lameness problems
· Down cows
· Medical problems
· Surgical procedures such as eye ablation, third eyelid cancer removals, LDA/RDA, claw amputations, castrations etc
· Calf disbudding
Reproductive services including:
· Ultrasound or manual pregnancy testing. Ageing on the ultrasound is possible between 6-16 weeks of gestation.
· Assisting with calving difficulties, including performing c-sections and fetotomys.
· Assisting with calving issues (Uterine prolapse, milk fever etc).
· Artificial Insemination
· Bull breeding soundness evaluations including semen testing.
· Reproductive health investigations
· Pre-joining Metri-checks
Flock/herd health services including:
· Mortality investigations including post mortems
· Disease outbreak problems
· Pestivirus ear notch testing
· Blood testing
· Supply of and advice on using pain relief for marking
· Parasite control programs, include performing faecal egg counts.
SMALL RUMINANT (sheep & goats)
General (ambulatory) services include:
· Examination of the sick or injured sheep or goat
· Lameness problems
· Medical problems
· Surgical procedures
· Disbudding
Reproductive services including:
· Pre-breeding ewe and ram examinations
· Ram semen testing
· Brucellosis testing
· Vasectomies and castrations
· Assisting with birthing difficulties
· Assisting with lambing issues (such as pregnancy toxaemia, uterine prolapse etc).
· Reproductive health investigations
Flock/herd health services including:
· Mortality investigations including post mortems
· Disease outbreak problems
· Supply of and advice on using pain relief for marking
· Management plans for the orphan lamb
· Parasite (worms, lice and fly) control programs, include performing faecal egg counts. Dr Emily Foss has completed the PARABOSS Sheep parasite advisor course.
EQUINE
Our equine services include:
· Annual health checks and vaccinations (strangles, tetanus)
· Examination of the sick or injured animal including emergencies after hours e.g. colics
· Equine Dentistry with comprehensive oral health and treatment under sedation. Dr Lorna Undy has completed Level 1 in Essentials of Equine dentistry
· Geriatric health checks including bloodwork, dental check and arthritis injections
· Euthanasia
OTHER FARM ANIMALS
We provide veterinary services for all animals great and small.
We also see alpacas, camels, pigs and chickens.
Large Animal Farm Visits/Valley Runs
We travel up the King and Greta Valleys on Tuesdays and Thursdays (Valley Runs). We charge half price travel on these days (normal travel fee is $2.12/km).
Bookings must be made the day before so we can plan the route and visit times.
